Police in Nyatike Sub County are currently investigating the tragic incident involving the death of a three-year-old boy allegedly killed by his father, who subsequently took his own life in Magungu, Migori County.

According to Acting Chief Mr. Zacheus Odero, initial findings suggest that the father had physically disciplined the boy during a dispute with the mother on the night of Friday, July 12, 2024.

After realizing what had happened, the man reportedly hanged himself inside their home. Prior to his death, he had contacted a relative, urging them to bring the wife back to take the child to the hospital, but she did not return due to fear.

The wife, who spent the night elsewhere in the neighborhood, returned later to find the door locked from the inside. It was then discovered that the man had died by suicide and that the young boy had also tragically passed away.

The acting chief mentioned that the deceased had been living with his wife for only one month before this incident. The bodies of both individuals have been transferred to the Migori Level Four Hospital mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.
