A 36-year-old fisherman is on the run after allegedly killing his six-year-old son and seriously injuring his daughter following a domestic dispute linked to widow inheritance in Nyasumbi Village, Gembe North Location, Mbita Sub-County, on Wednesday morning.

The suspect, said to be a fisherman at Misori Beach, reportedly attacked his children after a disagreement with his wife over his relationship with a widow he had inherited within the same village.

The deceased boy, identified as Prince Otieno, was a Grade One pupil at Gode Ariyo Comprehensive School.

According to Gembe North Location Chief Charles Ngoe, the suspect became enraged after his wife opposed the relationship.

Ngoe said the man allegedly began by assaulting his wife on Wednesday morning after she raised objections to the arrangement, forcing her to flee for safety.

After the woman escaped, the suspect is said to have turned on his four-year-old daughter, attacking her with a wooden rod and leaving her with serious injuries.

He then reportedly pursued his son through the neighbourhood before catching up with him and assaulting him using the handle of a jembe, causing severe head injuries.
