Police in Kaplamai, Trans Nzoia County are probing the Thursday night murder of a 27-year-old man reportedly stoned to death over a cash debt.

David Wanjala Waswa’s lifeless body was discovered by police after a village elder alerted them.

“Police officers from Sibanga Police Post responded together with scenes of crime personnel and DCI officers from Trans Nzoia East Sub-County,” reads  a police report on the incident.

“It was established that one David Wanjala Waswa was stoned to death on allegations of debt of unknown amount during the night of 21/3/2024 at unknown time.”

Police added that prior to the incident, Waswa allegedly had an altercation with two men namely; Martin Shikuku and Obed Musala, who are now considered persons of interest in the case.

The duo’s current whereabouts are unknown but a manhunt for them has been launched.

“Exhibits of stones with blood stains, one trouser and a shirt were recovered at the scene,” said the police report.

Waswa’s body has been moved to Kitale County Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem.
