A 40-year-old hawker in Homa-Bay town has been arrested for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old niece at Shauri yako estate within Arujo sub location of Homa Bay County.

The man who sells goods in Homa Bay Town was arrested in the town for having the canal knowledge of the female minor who is in grade six.

It is reported that information about the heinous act came to public limelight after the child hinted to a neighbour that the man has been defiling her repeatedly.

The area assistant chief Jackton Olielo says one of the neighbours became suspicious and went to his house where he caught him in the act with the girl before informing him.

Olielo says the man had made it a routine habit of defiling the girl in the pretext of taking care of her as a guardian.

The suspect, who separated with his wife over domestic disagreement took the girl after her mother died. The minor’s father suffers from a chronic illness.

The administrator arrested the suspect and handed him over to police at Homa-Bay Police Station for further action.
