A 26-year-old man died on Tuesday evening after he fell into the waters of Lake Victoria near Uhanya beach in Bondo, Siaya County.

The man, who has been identified as Samuel Otieno is said to have gone to take a bath at the lakeshore when he fell into the waters and drowned.

According to Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo, the incident was reported to Uhanya police patrol base by a member of Uhanya Beach Management Unit security team Buluma Owino.

He stated that officers from the patrol base visited the scene and established that the deceased, who was also epileptic had gone to take bath at the lakeshore, where he developed an attack and fell into the water.

Kimaiyo stated that the local fishermen through the help of members of the public swiftly moved in to try to rescue him and only managed to retrieve him when already dead.
