A Kipsero village family has been struck by an almost unimaginable sequence of loss, with the death of a young man known as Korir, or Chess, following just a day after his mother and sister were buried.
The community had barely had time to grieve the two women when news broke that Korir, who had remained in critical condition following the Twin Bridge accident that killed his mother and sister, had also succumbed to his injuries.
The accident had already torn the heart out of one family, claiming two lives and leaving Korir fighting for survival.
Friends and neighbours had held on to hope that he might pull through, making his death the day after the funeral a particularly devastating blow.
Call for divine comfort for Kipsero village
Local community page E-TEN shared the news on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in a post that reflected the collective sorrow weighing on the village.
“Sad and somber mood hangs over Kipsero village once again. After the painful loss of both mum and daughter, the family has been dealt another heavy blow. Their son, who has been in critical condition, has also succumbed just a day after the funeral. We have lost Korir alias Chess. A dark cloud of grief is upon us,” the post read.
The post ended with a call for divine comfort for both the family and the broader Kipsero community.
