A 29-year-old man who was reported missing after an alleged abduction incident on January 25, 2026, has been found dead.

The body of Liban Boru Charfi, a father of two and a resident of Odda village in Moyale, Marsabit County, was found decomposing three days after he was reported missing.

According to family members, his body was found at a crusher site in the Walda area on Jan 27th along the Moyale-Marsabit highway after an intensive search by family members and friends.

The late Liban Boru was initially allegedly abducted near OMC Secondary School in Moyale while heading home by armed men in plain clothes using an unmarked Probox vehicle.

Eyewitnesses said the vehicle was spotted heading towards Marsabit town.

The deceased, a herder and livestock trader, had lived in Odda for seven years but originally hailed from Badan Rero area.

A highly graphic photo seen by Citizen Digital paints a grim picture of Liban’s torture at the hands of his abductors.

Liban was blindfolded with a blue scarf, and with visible physical harm.

His body also had bruises and bullet wounds, with blood oozing from his mouth.

His mother, Buke Malicha, said she lost her only son in a gruesome murder, suspecting security agencies’ involvement.

” I am emotionally drained. Why would they kill my only son? If there was any case, why didn’t they use the right channel to address it? The gov’t role is to protect life and properties of the common wananchi, unfortunately, this is no longer the case”,  Buke lamented.

Liban was buried yesterday, with the family and local leaders calling for urgent investigations into the unfortunate incident.
