Matatu heading to Kitui from Nairobi intercepted ferrying explosive materials

Police have intercepted a matatu ferrying explosive materials for making bombs.

According to reports, officers intercepted the car heading to Kitui from Nairobi after receiving a tipoff from locals where they found the contraband wrapped in a parcel.

Police are now awaiting experts from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to analyse the explosives.

Meanwhile, the driver of the matatu has been apprehended and is being held in Kwavonza in lower Yatta in Kitui.

The car has been detained at Kanyonyo Police Station.
