The Cabinet Secretary for Finance John Mbadi, has told off Kiharu Members of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, for criticizing his 2025/26 budget.

Mbadi urged legislators to be patient and wait for him to demonstrate to them how a fair and equitable budget is prepared.

The CS slammed Nyoro, a former Budget and Appropriations Committee chairperson, accusing him of inequality in the budget allocation during his tenure.

Mbadi said the coffee sector which is now being politicized by some of the leaders has been allocated Ksh.4B compared to the previous financial year where it was allocated Ksh.3B

“He mentioned that there was no allocation for the promotion of coffee farming. But when he was the chairman of the budget and appropriations committee, the budget allocated to coffee was Ksh.3 billion… this financial year, we have Ksh.4 billion. If you have not looked at the budget, please look at it keenly,” Mbadi fired at Nyoro.

He told Nyoro to go through the proposed 2025/2026 budget so that he can understand it fully.

The Treasury boss said he is going to demonstrate to the MP that he has the capacity to prepare a good budget adding that even counties which have never had a single tarmac road are going to get tarmac roads in the coming budget.

“A constituency like Daadab is getting the first tarmac road since independence. Yet when the same gentleman was the budget chair for two years, he was taking Ksh.6 billion to his constituency and Murang’a county,” Mbadi stated.

The CS was speaking at Dede primary school in Awendo sub county, where he attended a fuds drive for spiritual churches in the sub county.

He was accompanied by Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko,Awendo member of parliament Walter Owino and Principal Secretary for Internal Security Raymond Omollo who assured support for President William Ruto.
