A businesswoman who is alleged to have drugged her fornication partner at their vacation house in Nairobi has been charged with stupefying with the intention of stealing from him in contravention of section 230 of the Penal Code.

Linet Kainyu is accused of administering an unidentified stupefying drug to Jacob Kibet at an apartment on Lumumba Drive in Roysambu on October 23, 2023, after she allegedly invited him for beer and sex.

However, Kibet discovered the tablet in his drink just before he swallowed it and fled the room before he reported the matter to the apartment’s management and police were called in.

The tablet was recovered and is being analysed by the government chemist for identification before it is used as an exhibit in the case.

Ms Kainyu is also facing a charge of giving false information to a person employed by the Public Service Commission (PSC) contrary to section 129 (a) of the Penal Code after giving false names to the police after she was arrested.

She had informed police constable Kennedy Otieno of Kasarani police station that her name is Faith Makena but her national identification card number was added to the digital Occurrence Book (OB) giving her real name and prompting the police to charge her with giving a false identity.

She is accused of causing PC Otieno to record wrong names in the OB which he ought not to have entered if the true state of facts if the correct information and particulars were given.

Kibet met Kainyu at a restaurant where she borrowed his phone to call her sister to send her money so that she could pay her bills since her phone had been blocked. And Kibet obliged.

However, he left the table where they were seated went to sit elsewhere, and took several drinks before he left.

Two days later, Kainyu called him and allegedly requested to meet him for drinks and fornication and they met at a restaurant.

After meeting, they took drinks together for some time and then bought takeaway drinks before they proceeded to the house where they were to spend the night on October 23.

Just before they went to bed, Kibet went to the washrooms leaving his beer on the table, and upon return, he sipped the beer but felt something on his tongue and spit it on a tissue, only to find it was a tablet of an unknown drug.
