Inter Miami forward Lionel Messi has bid farewell to Sergi Roberto, whose departure from Barcelona was confirmed on Monday.

Roberto, who was the captain of the La Liga club last season, leaves as a free agent.

Messi wrote on Instagram stories: “All the luck in your new stage. Wish you the best, Sergi Roberto!”

Roberto came up through Barcelona’s youth system at La Masia and fought his way into the first team.

However, he leaves Camp Nou 14 years after making his debut.

Roberto played with Messi from 2013 to 2021.
