In Wednesday’s MLS All-Star Game, Mexican Liga MX defeated Major League Soccer 4-1 with second-half goals from Argentine strikers Juan Brunetta and Maximiliano Meza.
The victory was marked by additional goals from Argentine forward German Berterame and Moroccan winger Oussama Idrissi. Liga MX’s triumph at Columbus, Ohio, follows MLS’s previous wins in the All-Star meetings of 2021 and 2022.
Berterame opened the scoring for Liga MX in the 16th minute, but MLS’s Cucho Hernandez equalized just a minute later. Idrissi then gave Liga MX a 2-1 lead with a goal in the 41st minute. Brunetta and Meza extended Liga MX’s lead in the 68th and 69th minutes, respectively.
Lionel Messi of Inter Miami was absent due to a right ankle injury sustained in Argentina’s Copa America final win over Colombia. Messi, who missed two MLS games last week, is uncertain for Inter Miami’s upcoming match against Puebla as they begin their Leagues Cup campaign.
