Millennials are once again opening up about the emotional weight of modern adulthood, with media personality Janet Mbuguacapturing a feeling many say defines their current reality, doing everything right yet still feeling deeply exhausted.

Taking to her Instagram account on Sunday, April 12, 2026, Janet Mbugua said the millennial crisis is marked by a deep sense of exhaustion despite doing everything right in life.

She noted that while many millennials are grateful for their growth and achievements, there is an unspoken fatigue that comes with navigating adulthood.

“The millennial crisis is wild, because how did we do everything “right” and still end up this tired? We’re grateful, we’re growing, we have built beautiful things and some of us are raising beautiful humans,” she wrote.

“But wueh, nobody warned us adulthood would feel like healing your inner child while answering emails, paying bills and still trying not to lose yourself in the process.”

“Some days are heavy, some are hilarious. Most days are both. That’s life right now and maybe being honest about it is the healthiest thing we can do,” she added.

Being a millennial

Despite the reflection on fatigue, she noted that she still values the journey of millennial life, embracing both its challenges and growth.

“Still wouldn’t trade being a Millennial,” Janet noted.

“I love being a millennial; there is something about being in this generation that came before the technology was a huge boom.”

The TV host further reflected on the emotional strain of modern life, saying she is experiencing a difficult mix of uncertainty and hope that feels overwhelming and unsettling.

She admits she is tired of constantly reassuring herself and others that “it is okay”, adding that in reality, it often does not feel okay.

“What I did not anticipate was this moment of just so much uncertainty and so much hope at the same time, and it is jarring, and it is okay,” she stated.

“I am tired of saying like,’it is okay’, it is not.”

Additionally, Janet added that every generation faces a defining struggle that can make people feel like they are breaking under the weight of their times.

“Every generation has the one thing that makes them feel like their breaking point and something that gives them hope,” she added.
