A number of suspects narrowly escaped the wrath of the mob when they were spotted vandalizing electricity cables.

Members of the public started trailing the suspects at around 1.00am until dawn at 5am when they were spotted in possession of electric cables of 60 metres but they managed to escape into the darkness.

Their three motorbikes were torched at Kasire village, Kodera North Location Rachuonyo South Sub-county.

The village has been in darkness for a period of three weeks due to vandalism of electricity transformer and cables by unknown suspects who carry out the dubious operations at night.

A section of residents led by David Ouko say they caught some of the suspects on top of the electricity poles cutting wires but they dropped down and escaped before they get hold of them.

However they managed to confiscate their motorbikes from where they were hidden and torched them.

The area Chief Joseph Omondi Omoro confirmed the incident, saying the report has been booked with the police who are currently looking for the suspects who are still at large.
