The Michael Olunga Foundation Academy (MOFA) has made changes to its coaching staff following their failure to secure promotion to the National Super League.

Head Coach Kassim Otieno, known as Kassim Junior, and his assistant Gaddy Omondi have departed from the club after their defeat to Fortune Sacco. Otieno had joined MOFA from NSL side Gusii FC.

Despite slipping into the playoffs, MOFA’s hopes were dashed by a 3-0 loss to Fortune at Dandora Stadium, ending their three-year pursuit of promotion to the second tier. With Otieno and Omondi exiting, the club will enter preseason and the new season with a revamped coaching staff.

MOFA had an impressive run in the FKF Division One Zone B, finishing second on the log with 55 points. They boasted the league’s best attack, scoring 46 goals while conceding 19.

Despite their strong performance, especially at home where they secured most of their wins, they fell short of their promotion ambitions.

Founder Michael Olunga expressed hopes of victory at Dandora Stadium, reminiscent of his past successes with Liberty Academy in 2012. However, Fortune, led by coach Michael Otimong, proved to be a formidable opponent.

Otimong, who joined Fortune in February 2024, guided the team to secure a spot in the NSL next season with an impressive defensive record.

Despite MOFA’s strong start in the match against Fortune, it was the latter who capitalized on their experience to secure victory.

Otimong’s guidance saw Fortune concede only three goals and maintain a perfect home record throughout the league campaign.
