Women National Super League (NSL) Zone A champions Mombasa Olympic coach Joseph Oyoo is confident of defeating Zone B champions Kisumu All Starlets in a playoff match at Dandora Stadium this weekend for the league’s overall title.

In an interview with Citizen Digital, Oyoo revealed that his team is adequately prepared for the match, adding that despite never having trained on an artificial turf, the team is not bothered and will emerge the winners.

“The preparations for the playoff have been good and we hope for a good performance. The team is also very stable. We’ve played against Kisumu All Starlets before so I know the match will be tough,” said Oyoo.

“All artificial grass stadiums in Mombasa have been destroyed and such would have helped us during training. Our opponents on the other hand have an advantage over us because they use Moi Stadium which is very well structured with the artificial grass. We however understand that only our expertise will help us and we are working on that,” he added.

The coach has also assured that they will arrive for the match in good time and have enough rest, unlike their last match against Kayole Starlets which they lost due to fatigue.

“We will travel on Thursday ahead of the match, contrary to our previous match against Kayole where we arrived on the actual match day, late and exhausted,” noted Oyoo.

The match between Mombasa Olympic and Kisumu All Starlets is slated for Saturday, June 8, 2024 in Nairobi County, to determine the winner of the two zones.
