Kajiado Central Member of Parliament (MP) Elijah Kanchory, has dared the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to expel him for his recent collaboration with President William Ruto.
The MP’s challenge comes amidst disciplinary actions taken against ODM members who have associated themselves with the government.
Kanchory asserted that the recent issuance of warning letters to party members for their government affiliations is a direct violation of the principles of democracy that allows for freedom of association.
He emphasized that political allegiances should not be a basis for party sanctions.
“2022 politics is behind us,” Kanchory said as he urged his fellow party members to focus on the future.
In his characteristic straightforward manner, he outlined the harsh realities of Kenyan politics,
“Na mambo ni matau hii kenya .Ujipange ama upangwe. Si ni kweli. Uogoze, ama uogozwe. Uamue au uamuliwe. Na sisi hatutaki kupangwa, tunajipanga .Hatutaki kuogozwa tunajiogoza, hatutaki kuamuliwa, tunajiamulia,” he said.
Kanchory expressed dissatisfaction with his experiences in the party, saying that despite his multiple electoral victories, he has not been given an opportunity to lead any parliamentary committee, leaving him frustrated as he questioning the party’s commitment to empowering its members.
He challenged the party leadership to reconsider their stance on expelling members.
Kanchory asserted that he is ready to return to the people if the party decided to take disciplinary action against him.
He pledged to seek direct support from the citizens and declared a firm commitment to serving his constituents.
