The legal proceedings involving Gatundu South Member of Parliament Gabriel Kagombe have unfolded with his release on bail after entering a plea of not guilty to charges of murder. The court granted him bail in the amount of Ksh.1 million, along with an alternative bond of Ksh.2 million, requiring a surety of a similar amount.

The charges against Kagombe stem from the fatal shooting of boda boda rider David Nduati Wataha on May 17, 2024, in the Kimuchu area of Makongeni, Thika. During Monday’s hearing, Machakos High Court Judge Francis Olel had ordered a mental assessment test for Kagombe, which took place on Wednesday.

With the legal proceedings ongoing, Justice Olel has scheduled the case for mentioning on July 17, 2024, as the judicial process continues to unfold.
