Mukurweini Member of Parliament John Kaguchia dismissed rumors of discontent within the Mt. Kenya region towards President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration, asserting that the region will remain in government until 2032.
Kaguchia emphasized that despite any challenges, the Mt. Kenya region will stand united with Ruto, even during his potential re-election bid in 2027.
“There is no way we are going to pull our people out of government. We made very many promises in the Mt. Kenya region and we are in government as of right. For that reason I can tell you without any shadow of doubt, we are going to be in government for five years, and until 2032,” Kaguchia said.
Referring to the recent Limuru III meeting where some leaders criticized Ruto’s administration for neglecting the Mt. Kenya region, Kaguchia reaffirmed the region’s commitment to the government. He stated that the promises made to the Mt. Kenya region bind them to the current government, ensuring their continued participation until 2032.
Following the formation of the Haki Coalition at the Limuru III meeting, aimed at advocating for the region’s interests and holding Ruto’s administration accountable, leaders aligned with Ruto dismissed the gathering.
They maintained that the Mt. Kenya people will remain loyal to the government.
Amid rumors of a rift between Ruto and his Deputy Rigathi Gachagua, who was absent from key state functions before resurfacing, Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga and Gachagua’s allies expressed support for the Deputy President. Kahiga condemned any attempts to strain the relationship between Ruto and Gachagua, vowing to stand by the Deputy President despite challenges.
