Timber XO, an entertainment establishment linked to Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, has temporarily shut down for renovations following a break-in and looting during last week’s protests. According to a source close to the MP, the club is undergoing renovation as a result of the incident.
“The club has been closed for renovation and will be opened once the renovation is complete,” the source who spoke on anonymity said.
The club, which opened in May, was recently vandalized by suspected individuals who broke glass walls, windows, and doors, and also looted thousands of shillings worth of liquor from the premises.
Following these events, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has announced a sabbatical from public engagements and development activities, citing concerns that his participation in fundraising events like Harambees has been exploited to tarnish his reputation.
In related news, 15 youths appeared in an Eldoret court on Monday in connection with protests in the town. They appeared before Chief Magistrate Dennis Mikoyan, where police sought a 21-day remand to complete investigations into various alleged crimes committed during the protests.
Sudi is listed as one of the complainants in the case, with investigations focusing on offenses such as theft, handling suspected stolen goods, and malicious property damage, according to Investigations Officer Ekiru Kirimoni.
