The Ministry of Health has confirmed an additional case of Mpox, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 14. In a statement released on Thursday, Health Cabinet Secretary Dr. Deborah Barasa announced that the new case was recorded in Uasin Gishu County.

“Contact tracing efforts remain a priority,” she emphasized. “Out of 68 listed contacts, 61 have completed the required 21-day follow-up, with three testing positive for Mpox. At our Points of Entry (POEs), 30,237 travelers have been screened in the last 24 hours. Cumulatively, 1,362,657 travelers have been screened across 26 POEs since the onset of the outbreak.”
She also highlighted that the National Public Health Laboratory (NPHL) continues to process samples promptly. “A total of 244 samples have been tested, 14 of which have been confirmed positive, 227 have tested negative, and 3 are still undergoing testing,” she concluded.
