Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has joined world leaders in condemning the deadly attack by gunmen that killed more than 90 people dead and left more than 140 injured in Moscow, Russia on Friday.

In a statement addressed to his Russian counterpart H.E. Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov, Mudavadi, who is also the Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said that Kenya strongly and unequivocally condemns the atrocious act and stands with Russia in mourning the loss of innocent lives.

“The senseless attack carried out at Crocus City near Moscow on 22nd March 2024 is barbaric and counter to all fundamental principles of our shared humanity. We convey our deep sympathies to all those affected by this heinous act,” he said on Saturday.

“Acts of terrorism and violent extremism are unjustifiable and inexcusable; they are an assault on humanity’s collective moral consciousness,” he added.

At least 60 people were killed in the bloodbath at Crocus City Hall – a prominent concert venue near Moscow.

This was the deadliest attack in Russia for nearly 20 years.

At the scene of the mass shooting, investigators worked through the night to gather evidence, including abandoned weapons and ammunition left by the gunmen.

As for the attackers, Russian officials have said very little about who they were – or where they are. There were indications last night that they had escaped and that police were trying to hunt them down.

A branch of the Islamic State group says it carried out the attack. Moscow has yet to comment on that claim. And President Vladimir Putin has yet to make any public comment on the attack.

So far, four people directly involved in the Moscow concert hall attack are among 11 detained. At least 93 people were killed when gunmen attacked a packed concert and More than 140 others were wounded at the Crocus City Hall, according to the FSB Federal Security Service.
