Police seize 3,500 litres of Kangara
The Kakamega incident closely follows another recent raid where Police officers from the Nairobi Regional Headquarters seized thousands of litres of illicit brew in a major operation carried out in the Kahawa West area of Kasarani Sub-County.
In a statement on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) revealed that the raid led to the destruction of over 3,500 litres of kangara and the confiscation of 180 litres of chang’aa alongside two manufacturing coils used in the illegal brewing process.
Further, the NPS revealed that the person of interest behind the operation managed to escape arrest during the raid.
However, a manhunt is underway as officers intensify efforts to track down and bring the individual to justice.
“Although the suspect behind the illegal operation managed to evade arrest, police have intensified the search to track down and apprehend the individual.”
