Mutai elected unopposed as new Kenya Rugby Union chair

Alexander “Sasha”Mutai is the new Chairman of the Kenya Rugby Union. Mutai was elected unopposed during the KRU’s elections at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 29 March 2023 at the RFUEA Ground in Nairobi.

The 45-year-old quantity surveyor was declared rugby’s new boss by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officer Joseph Kamau.

“We shall put the welfare of the players first,” Mutai said.

Moses Ndale was voted in as the Vice Chairman with Raymond Olendo elected as Honorary Secretary. Dr. Joshua Aroni retained his position as Honorary Treasurer.

Former Shujaa captain Humphrey Kayange was elected as a Director. Joining him on the KRU Board are Leslie Mwangle, Ochieng Ahaya, Harriet Ochako, Moses Mukabane and John Kilonzo who retained his seat as a Director.
