Gabriel Martinelli of Brazil and Arsenal has named Cristiano Ronaldo his idol.

Martinelli said that he had followed Cristiano Ronaldo’s game as a child, right from the legendary forward’s time at Real Madrid.

Martinelli joined Arsenal for £6 million from Brazilian outfit Ituano in 2019 and has become a key player for the Gunners.

Playing from the wings, the 22-year-old Brazilian has already made 174 appearances for Arsenal, scoring 41 goals and 24 assists.

Martinelli joins a host of other young players who have idolised the Portugal international, saying, according to Madrid Xtra: “My idol? I always liked Cristiano Ronaldo. As a child, I watched his games at Real Madrid.”
