A Nairobi woman has warmed hearts after celebrating her househelp, Rozy, who has graduated with a Diploma in Food and Beverage Management, following an educational journey she helped finance.

Beryl Onzere revealed that she took up the responsibility of supporting Rozy’s education after the latter decided to return to school, inspired by her employer’s academic achievement.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Beryl described Rozy as someone who had become an important part of her family, having helped raise her daughter from the day she was born.

She explained that when she became a mother, she was largely inexperienced in caring for a newborn, and Rozy stepped in to help her navigate the challenging early days of motherhood.

“Rozy has been part of my family from the very beginning. She helped me raise my daughter from day one, at a time when I was completely clueless about motherhood, especially caring for a newborn,” Beryl shared.

She added that Rozy’s contribution went beyond childcare, crediting her with playing an important role in her daughter’s upbringing and early development.

According to Beryl, her daughter developed excellent English-speaking skills and a strong foundation, thanks in large part to Rozy’s patience, dedication and care.

Boss inspired househelp to return to school

Interestingly, Rozy’s decision to pursue higher education was influenced by watching her employer achieve an important academic milestone.

Beryl disclosed that after graduating with her Master’s degree in 2024, Rozy approached her with a decision that would eventually change her life.

The househelp reportedly told her employer that watching her graduate had inspired her to return to school and pursue her own academic ambitions.

For Beryl, the revelation was particularly meaningful because she had not realised that her personal achievement had motivated someone close to her to pursue a similar dream.

“That was particularly special to me because I realised that, without even knowing it, I had encouraged someone else to pursue her dreams,” she said.

Rozy subsequently enrolled at Kaimosi Friends National Polytechnic in 2024, where she pursued a Diploma in Food and Beverage Management.

She was, however, not alone in making the dream possible. The CDF office in Sabatia and Rozy’s family also offered some financial assistance towards her education.

With the support, Rozy was able to pursue her diploma, eventually reaching the milestone that her employer is now celebrating.

For Rozy, the graduation represents the culmination of a decision she made after witnessing her employer’s success. For Beryl, it is an opportunity to celebrate someone whose contribution to her family has been invaluable.
