‎A Nairobi family is demanding justice following the alleged murder of 23-year-old Latifa Akumu Orimba, whose body was reportedly discovered in River Nithi in Chuka.

‎Latifa was last seen on October 26, 2026, after she allegedly disappeared from Nyayo Highrise in Kibra, Nairobi. Her family spent days searching for her before the devastating discovery was made, seven days after she went missing.

What made the loss even more painful was its timing. Just weeks earlier, on October 3, 2026, Latifa had been photographed eulogising her late mother at her burial. The family, who had already been grieving one loss, was now faced with burying another.

A Family Torn Apart by Grief

‎Latifa’s grieving aunt reportedly pointed the finger at her ex-boyfriend, identified claiming possible involvement in her niece’s disappearance and death. Investigators have yet to establish those allegations.

‎”Is this how you treat my brother’s child, with such cruelty? A 23-year-old girl who was still deep in mourning. I just don’t understand how people can be this cold-blooded and heartless,” the aunt said.

The circumstances surrounding Latifa’s death have left those who knew her shaken. She had been grieving her mother’s passing when she allegedly vanished, and the manner in which her body was reportedly recovered has only deepened the anguish her family now carries.
