A police officer stationed at Lang’ata Police Station was on Friday found lying in a pool of blood at the roadside in Nairobi.

According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, two private guards at Ngei Phase II along Kitengela Lane spotted a male adult lying unconscious on the roadside.

Upon investigating the body, the two guards established the deceased as Corporal Mark Ayabei from Lang’ata Police Station.

His body was found lying in a pool of blood and further examination established two stab wounds on his chest.

Crime Scene and Investigations (CSI) officers attached to Lang’ata rushed to the scene to process and try to determine what transpired.

Ayabei’s body was transferred to Umash Funeral Home pending postmortem examination.

The officers have since launched investigations to uncover the suspect behind the murder and the motive for committing the act.

The latest data from the government shows that close to 100 police officers have lost their lives in the past two years.

Police records show a majority are killed through bandit attacks. Others include robbers and colleagues.
