A police officer attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Molo, Nakuru County, has been arrested and disarmed after he was allegedly involved in a shooting incident involving a boda boda rider on Wednesday night.
Edwin Keitany was shot and injured and is expected to undergo brain surgery on Saturday morning to remove the bullet fragments.
The victim has recorded a statement with the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA).

Edwin, a boda boda rider, was admitted to the facility on Thursday and claims he was shot and injured by a police officer following an altercation between the DCI officer and a pillion passenger.
“A passenger told me to take her to her home in Ole polos…when we reached, nikampeleka gate ya pili,hii bodaboda nikapata mzee alikuwa anangoja hapo….mama akauliza unalipiwa umetoka wapi saa hii,” Keitany stated.
“Mzee alianza kuniuliza nilmetoka wapi na bibi yake,akaniharass sana, akasema nichukue mahinidn meno na nikaskuma pikipiki mpaka kwake ……nilijipata nableed sana nilingangana pekee yangu hadi nje,” he added.
Police reports indicate that the suspect Sergeant James Kenei is in police custody, and his pistol, containing 14 9 mm rounds, has since been seized.
The resident medical officer on duty said the victim had severe soft tissue injuries, and a CT scan showed multiple bullet fragments on the right frontal region.
