A gang of six members, who posed as the aides of the bodyguard of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, lured a lorry driver and turn boy into Old Nairobi highway in Gilgil before robbing them of the vehicle and personal effects.

According to a police report seen by K24 Digital, Joseph Waithaka and Peter Mwai, who are employees of Wakape Parcels Company Limited, said they received a call from an unknown client who claimed he wanted a lorry to transport water pipes from Gilgil to Bungoma.

The suspect, who introduced himself as the bodyguard of Wetang’ula, said he would send a lady to accompany them to Gilgil where the “goods” to be transported to Bungoma were.

Waithaka and Mwai, accompanied by the woman left Nairobi in one of the company’s lorry.

On reaching Gilgil at around 9pm, the woman requested them to stop and she alighted before she was joined by two men.

“She told the driver that one of the men was to direct them to where the pipes were while the other man was to accompany them to Bungoma.
