Staffers at the Rift Valley regional offices in Nakuru who reported late to work on Monday were shocked to find Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku had locked the gates.
Ruku, who was in Nakuru for a spot check on service delivery in all public offices, arrived at the regional government offices at 8 a.m.
He addressed staff who made it to work on time as the rest stayed away from the premises.
CS Ruku assured that the government was working to streamline issues public servants have raised such as staff promotions.
His visit came just a day after he reiterated the government’s commitment to decentralizing services by establishing more Huduma Centres across the country to ensure faster and more efficient service delivery.
Ruku on Sunday called on public servants to remain dedicated and serve all Kenyans equally without fear or favor.
“As leaders, we must focus on service delivery. The time for politics will come in 2027, but for now, we must work,” he said then.
