A 33-year-old man has been arrested following the death of his wife, Irene Jelimo, 30, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a domestic altercation in Sile village, Nandi County. On August 15, the couple had a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight, during which Jelimo was struck in the head and lost consciousness. Her husband transported her to Kapsabet Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Police discovered her body in the hospital morgue with visible injuries and subsequently transferred it to Nandi Hills Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination. The suspect has been arrested and is awaiting arraignment.
In a separate incident in Gathiuru Sub-Location, Nyeri County, a 96-year-old woman named Zipporah Kajuju was found murdered.
Police reported that Kajuju had a cut on her left cheek and multiple stab wounds on her chest and back, inflicted by a sharp object. The motive behind the murder is currently unknown. The body has been taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue.
