The Controller of Budget has released the 2024/25 half year report that has detailed how counties have spent their money.

The report raises concern over billions of shillings lying idle at the Central Bank when counties are supposed to spend on development.

Mandera County has been listed as the best in development absorption in the half year results spending 32% of its development money.

Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu comes in second spending 30% of his development money.

“Mandera Ksh.1.7 billion spent on development, Narok Ksh.1.5 billion spent on development,” noted the CoB report.

The Margaret Nyakango report released today, indicated that several counties have abandoned development spending peanuts in their counties on development.

Elgeyo Marakwet, Lamu, Baringo, Kajiado are among counties that have spent between 5% and 12% on development.

County Governors have been training their guns in the Controller of Budget accusing her office of making late approvals of their budgets.
