The NCBA Golf Series, which was launched last month, is set to continue this weekend with the second leg taking place at the Limuru Country Club on Saturday.

Over 200 golfers are expected to compete in the tournament, all vying for a chance to play in the grand finale in December at Sigona Golf Club, where cash prizes will be up for grabs.

Following the first leg at Kenya Railway Golf Club last month, the top qualifiers include Kevin Mbatia, who emerged as the overall winner, Fidhelis Kimanzi, who starred among the men, and Dr. Mary Wainaina, who won the Women’s Category.

This year’s series will feature 16 senior qualifier events held across the country and a juniors’ tournament at Nyali Golf Club.

The NCBA Golf Series is currently one of the most popular golf tournaments in the region, with its focus on developing young talent and providing opportunities for seasoned golfers to showcase their skills.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, NCBA Group Managing Director John Gachora said; “We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm from golfers across the country for the NCBA Golf Series. The first leg at Kenya Railway Golf Club was a great success, and we are excited to continue this momentum at Limuru Country Club this weekend,” said Gachora.

“Our aim is to create a tournament that not only showcases the talent of our local golfers but also provides a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.

We believe that the NCBA Golf Series is a unique and exciting platform that will inspire the next generation of golfers and contribute to the growth of the sport in the region,” he added.

Meanwhile, the second edition of the Golf Park Open tees off this weekend at Ngong Race Course & Golf Park Club, with this time the event being played over 54 holes for three days (14th, 15th and 16th) to create opportunities for the top amateurs to earn World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)points. A total of 70 amateurs have been drawn to battle it out for the top Cash prize and the Trophy. A field of 23 professionals will join the amateurs for the second and third rounds but on a separate cash prize.

Leading the pack at the Golf Park Open is the defending Champion John Lejirma from Kenya Railway Golf Club who won the Inaugural event last year.

Reigning Kenya One, Mike Karanga has embarked on a trip to South Africa to participate in the Western Province Amateur Championship at the Strand Golf Club from April 17 to 19.
