TikToker Ian Asunya, better known as ‘Nduru Man’ recently spoke to Kenya’s biggest social critic, Andrew Kibe.
The content creator who became popular last year after being seen howling in compromising positions confessed that he was jealous of recent sensation, Priscilla wa Imani.
Priscilla for those who might have not got the memo has become a household name (I know, I know, I’m exaggerating) for her loud whistling which has earned her fame and money.
Nduru Man told a sympathetic Kibe that he had sometimes risked his life (even being arrested by police officers) to shoot the content but felt that he hadn’t got the necessary recognition nor attention.
“Ukiangalia mimi nimepiga risks zingine hatari, kama kutembea ile njia ya State House, najiambia sasa nikipigwa risasi maze, familia yangu itakuaje maze.
But sasa yeye amekam tu ivi na unacheki tu kila kitu inawork vizuri yani mpaka mi najiuliza nilifanya makosa gani maze.”
Which loosely translates to;
“If you look at me, I have taken other dangerous risks, like walking the path of the State House. I say to myself now if I am shot…maze! How will my family grow up?
But now she’s just come onto the scene and everything seems to be working fine for her. It makes me wonder what I did wrong?”
Nduru Man might be referring to the way Priscilla has landed brand endorsements, radio interviews and meetings with famous Kenyans at a record clip.
The content creator who recently revealed that he was battling blood cancer postulated that his lack of similar success might be due to his gender.
“Naskia sikuizi watu wanasema ati ni story za wanawake lakini na understand,” he said matter of factly.
Which loosely translates to;
“I have heard that people are saying it is because she’s a woman but I understand.”
