Newly elected Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) Chairman Sasha Mutai has revealed he is repairing broken ties with its stakeholders who lost their connection with the rugby governing body.

According to Mutai, the new board, which was elected into office a fortnight ago, is proven and ready to rebuild lost connections and make rugby great again.

“We are currently working with a company called Viva Africa to rebuild lost connections, relations, and partnerships while encouraging all those who have worked with us to come and board and support the course,” Mutai said in an interview.

Mutai said he has an able team to actualise his vision ahead for KRU adding he will be counting on the support of the board, which includes Moses Ndale (vice chairperson), Raymond Olendo (secretary) and Joshua Aroni (treasurer) as well as six directors among them Hall of Famer Humphrey Khayange.

On the issue of national team players lacking insurance and bonuses, the newly appointed chairman made it clear that’s a thing of the past and should not be repeated adding the selected player are assets and ambassadors of Kenya and should be treated as such.

“Then, players were covered by insurance. Now, a player gets hurt and they don’t know where to go. I have a good board to take us back to where we were because those players are our assets and ambassadors which means they should be treated as such,” Mutai said.

He further urged rugby fans to be patient.
