Oburu says that the agenda shows results in devolution, with funds allocated to strengthen county governments.
The ODM leader claimed that Parliament has already set aside money to compensate protest victims, while employment opportunities are beginning to reflect inclusivity
“In areas of paying the compensation to those who lost their lives or were injured in demonstrations from 2017, the money has already been allocated by Parliament, Ksh. 2 billion,” said the Siaya Senator.
Oburu further argued that the agreement has been implemented in the devolution sector.
“The employment opportunities, the inclusivity is already being seen. You can see now we have celebrated a PS from Rarieda,” he said.
According to Oburu, those saying nothing has been implemented on the 10-point agenda are not being truthful.
On the broad-based government agreement, the Senator said the ODM party has given him a mandate to negotiate with President Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
“I am yet to form a team to start the negotiations. And Mr. President, you said it correctly: that when the negotiations start, ODM and UDA will start negotiating as equal partners. We are not going there as weaklings,” he said.
