The Odinga family has expressed deep gratitude to Kenyans, world leaders, and officials for their support following the passing of Raila Amolo Odinga. The message was shared on a day the family remembers as what would have been the veteran leader’s 81st birthday.

He singled out the President of Kenya, William Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and the entire government for their assistance, while also acknowledging various funeral committees that coordinated a proper send-off for Baba.

The statement also recognised international support, particularly from Prime Minister Narendra Modi of India, whose government facilitated the swift return of Baba Odinga to Kenya.
Retired presidents, including Uhuru Kenyatta, Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania, and African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina, were thanked for travelling long distances to pay their respects.
Local leaders

Governors and county assemblies, especially Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Kisumu’s Anyang’ Nyong’o and Siaya Governor James Orengo, alongside parliamentary leaders, including Speakers Moses Wetangula and Hon. Amason Kingi, were commended for coordinating funeral events seamlessly.

The family also praised the medical teams that cared for Baba, including staff from Devamatha Hospital in India and Nairobi Hospital, for their dedication and professionalism.
Gratitude to Kenyans
Expressing their appreciation to the people of Kenya, the family said the messages of support, love, and condolences provided comfort during a deeply painful time.

The statement further acknowledged ODM Party members, friends, and media houses for their coverage and assistance in keeping Baba’s legacy alive.
