Media personality and content creator Oga Obinna has weighed in on the recent violent altercation involving Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai, calling on Kenyans to stand by and protect the outspoken legislator.
Speaking in a video statement on Monday, January 5, 2026, Obinna said Kenyans should go beyond prayers and take personal responsibility for safeguarding the leaders they believe represent the country’s future.
While acknowledging the role of faith, he stressed that citizens also have a duty to act.
“Ile mambo ya Mungu tulindie huyu, tumeachana nayo. Mungu yuko, tunamwamba ndio, Mungu atamlinda kivyake lakini pia sisi inafaaa sasa we do our part. If you know you want change and you want later on in life to see Babu Owino as a president, now it’s time to start protecting that man,” he stated.
Obinna described Babu Owino as one of the few current leaders who consistently show courage and a willingness to stand with ordinary citizens during difficult moments.

He compared Owino’s political style to that of ODM leader Raila Odinga, noting similarities in boldness, resilience, and connection with the public.
“ If you look at that whole cocoon, ukiangalia tu hao waheshimiwa wote, who looks like they have the potential to later come and lead? Who has Baba (Raila Odinga) in them? Not just leadership, but who has the balls to come and stand with the people later mambo tu ikiumana mahali. Ukiangalia MPS utaona 1, 4, and 5 of them, but ukiangalia the top of the list is Babu Owino,” Obina added.
The media personality urged Kenyans, particularly those in Nairobi and other urban centres, to be vigilant and supportive whenever they see the MP in public.

“So now tumuombee, wale wako Niarobi wale wako wapi, but now we need to take matters into our own hands. Wewe, anywhere you see Babu Owino, wewe, chukulia kama jeshi ya Babu, venye tu tulikuwa jeshi ya Baba, and his security is on us. Na mtu mwenye analeta ufala kando ya Babu Owino, you know what to do. Let’s protect him with everything we can, that guy,” Obina added.
“Lakini Babu, you are my guy, but hii mambo ya kurelease security mpema wachana nayo. Hakuna kurelease security.”
