Julius Ogamba, the nominee for Education Cabinet Secretary, asserts that his extensive experience in managing complex court cases and his comprehension of the education sector make him well-suited for the role. During his vetting at City Hall, Ogamba, an accomplished advocate, highlighted that his leadership roles have enabled him to understand organizational operations deeply.
“In leadership, you learn to lead an organization and study within that organization. Regarding my suitability for this position, I have had substantial experience in handling complicated matters in court and have had the opportunity to understand the education docket,” Ogamba stated.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Education’s primary responsibility is to ensure access to education for all in the country. “Our constitution, under articles 43, 53, and 55, mandates the provision of education to the children of the country. The Ministry of Education, under the Basic Education Act, TVET Act, and University Act, expands this mandate to ensure its implementation,” he added.
With around 30 years of experience in legal practice, Ogamba has earned a reputation for delivering quality, accurate, and relevant legal advice. He has developed a substantial portfolio of corporate clients across various sectors, including banking, finance, manufacturing, oil, gas, natural energy, real estate, and government agencies.
Ogamba holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Law from the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of London, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. He is also a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public, a member of the Law Society of Kenya, and a Certified Public Secretary.
