Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah has called on Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to ensure the immediate release of two missing Kenyan citizens, Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi, who were abducted on Ugandan soil by individuals linked to the country’s security agencies.
In a statement on Thursday, October 23, 2025, Omtatah described their disappearance as a grave violation of human rights and international law, condemning the continued silence and lack of accountability from Ugandan authorities.
“The enforced disappearance of Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi, both Kenyan citizens, following their abduction on Ugandan soil by elements linked to the Ugandan security apparatus, is a grave violation of human rights and international law,” he said.
According to official records from the High Court of Uganda dated October 2025, the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have denied holding the two men in their custody. Their whereabouts remain unknown, raising serious concerns over their safety.
“I call upon President @KagutaMuseveni and the Government of Uganda to locate and release Nicholas Oyoo and Bob Njagi without delay. Kenya stands firm and united in defending the rights and dignity of its citizens everywhere,” Omtatah stated.
He further urged both the Governments of Kenya and Uganda, the East African Community (EAC), and international human rights organizations to intervene, investigate, and secure the duo’s safe return.

“The continued silence and uncertainty surrounding their disappearance are unacceptable. No cause justifies the disappearance of citizens. Justice must prevail,” Omtatah emphasized.
Bobi Wine
His remarks come shortly after Ugandan opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, scoffed at the President Yoweri Museveni-led government after it failed to present two abducted Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, before the court as ordered.
In an X post on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Bobi Wine denounced the human rights violations committed with impunity by the Ugandan authorities.
“Like it did with comrade Sam Mugumya, whom it abducted 2 months ago and remains missing to date, the shameless Museveni regime has also denied having in its custody our Kenyan comrades Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo,” he declared.
The activists are said to have been abducted on October 1, 2025, while attending a National Unity Platform (NUP) rally in Kampala and remain missing.
The Ugandan government has denied knowledge of their whereabouts.
