The family of the late Siaya High Court Judge Daniel Ogola Ogembo has announced his burial will take place next week. According to a notice from the Judiciary, Ogembo will be laid to rest on Friday, August 2, at his home in Kakrao, Migori County. A memorial service to honor his life is scheduled for Monday, July 29, at SDA Lavington Church in Nairobi.

Judge Ogembo passed away on July 17 at his residence in Siaya. Reports indicate that he had worked most of July 16 before returning home alone. His driver, who usually picks him up in the morning, was unable to reach him by phone or text.

When he sought help to access the house, Ogembo’s body was discovered. Police reported that the driver had noted Ogembo’s complaints of feeling unwell before he went to bed. The authorities waited for the family to arrive and process the scene before transferring the body to the morgue. The cause of death has not yet been publicly disclosed.

Justice Ogembo was appointed to the High Court in 2016, having joined the judiciary as a Magistrate in 2004. He served at the Eldoret, Milimani, and Siaya High Courts and was admitted to the Roll of Advocates in 1993.
