During the early Thursday raid, officers from NACADA’s Nairobi headquarters carried out a coordinated operation targeting the suspect’s residence and associated commercial premises.
The operation yielded more than 5,600 rolls of ready-to-use bhang, along with cannabis in various forms, rolling papers, weighing scales, polythene bags, and three rolling flags.
NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa said the suspect had been under surveillance for several weeks prior to the operation
“Today’s operation demonstrates NACADA’s unwavering commitment to protecting society, particularly at a time when schools are closed and children are at home for the holidays,” he said. “We will not allow drug traffickers to exploit this period to target vulnerable youth.”
Dr. Omerikwa also commended members of the public for their role in supporting enforcement efforts, urging continued vigilance and cooperation with authorities.
Residents in the area welcomed the arrest, with one community member, who requested anonymity, describing the suspect as a long-standing concern.
“This man has been a problem for years. Many young people have been affected by his activities, and families have been living in fear,” the resident said. “We hope justice will be served.”
The operation is part of a broader crackdown on drug trafficking following renewed calls by President William Ruto to intensify the fight against substance abuse nationwide.
The suspect remains in custody and is expected to face charges related to drug trafficking and possession of narcotics.
Authorities have urged the public to continue reporting suspected drug-related activities to NACADA or the nearest police station.
