The 11th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour is set to take place at the Sigona Golf Course, attracting a field of over 170 golfers from Nairobi and surrounding areas.
This follows the success of the previous leg held at the Limuru Country Club, where a four-ball team emerged victorious with a combined score of 110 points.
Pratik Sanghrajka, the Sigona Club Captain, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the tournament, highlighting the growth of golf in recent years and the positive impact of initiatives like the KCB Golf Series on the community.
He emphasized Sigona Golf Club’s commitment to providing a platform for golf enthusiasts to develop their skills.
The KCB Golf Series, which has toured various counties including Nakuru, Kakamega, Kericho, Nyeri, Nairobi, Mombasa, Kiambu, and Nandi, has engaged over 1000 participants and over 600 juniors through concurrent clinics.
Rosalind Gichuru, KCB Group Director of Marketing and Communications, underscored the importance of nurturing both seasoned players and the next generation of golfers, providing them with opportunities to participate in local, regional, and international tournaments.
“At KCB, we are firmly committed to elevating this sport to an elite level, which is why for the second year running, we are hosting the KCB East Africa Golf Tour. Sigona is an important course for us because we intend to interact with golfers from every corner of this country, to give them a chance to play in this competitive amateur tournament,” noted Rosalind.
The Bank has also embedded sustainability at the heart of the series, since last year, tree planting exercises have been done in the different courses the tour has graced – highlighting KCB’s efforts to curb the climate change effects.
