Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy, Eliud Owalo, spearheaded the organizing committee of the Nyanza International Investment Conference on Friday.
During this event, Owalo convened a working group breakfast with European Union (EU) Ambassadors based in Kenya.
Owalo highlighted that the discussions centered around strategies to attract foreign investors to the upcoming conference. This indicates a concerted effort to engage with international partners in fostering investment opportunities and economic development within the Nyanza region.
“As the patron of the Nyanza Professional Forum, I have this morning led the organising committee of the Nyanza International Investment Conference through a working group breakfast with European Union (EU) Ambassadors resident in Kenya,” Owalo said.
“This is part of the preparatory process for the conference that will be held at the Ciala Resort in Kisumu from June 28-29, 2024.”
The EU delegation was led by Ambassador Henriette Geiger, accompanied by ambassadors Roberto Natali (Italy), Caroline Vicini (Sweden), Gentiana Serbu (Romania), and Cristina Diaz (Spain).
Also present were Zsoe Meszaros (Hungary), Katarina Zuffa Leligdonova (Slovakia), Machteld Cattrysse (Belgium), Anna Filomena Rocha (Portugal), Pawel Pijanowobi (Poland), Oliver Lichtenger (Austria), Savvas Vladimirou (Cyprus), Nicol Adamcova (Czech Republic), Alexander Fierley (Germany), Thomas Von Handel, Nilal Valuken, Charlotte Hartusova, and Fillipo Anato from the EU Mission.
Viola Chelagat from the Netherlands Embassy and Joel Karubu from the Embassy of Estonia also attended. Additionally, Jan-Wilken Loha of the European Investment Bank was present.
Representing the Nyanza International Investment Conference organizing committee were chairman Jalph Olende, lawyer Kennedy Ogeto, who also serves as the legal adviser to the Presidency, Vera Manduku, Kenya’s newly appointed Ambassador to UN-Habitat Grace Okara, Michael Monari, Anyango Ochieng, and Kennedy Mohochi.
Owalo expressed confidence that the meeting with EU ambassadors will result in substantial participation of international investors in the event, signaling optimism for increased investment opportunities in the Nyanza region.
