Nairobi County Woman Representative Esther Passaris has proposed that several estates in the country should be named after the late Johana Ng’eno.

While offering her condolences in parliament on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, Passaris paid glowing tributes to her departed colleague, who also served as the first chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Housing, Urban Planning, and Public Works in the National Assembly.

According to Passaris, the deceased has been crucial in the success of the government’s housing programme and having several estates named after him would be a befitting honour.

Why Passaris wants estates named after Ng’eno

She noted that having several estates named after the Emurua Dikirr MP would be a befitting honour to his contribution, while also keeping his legacy alive.

“He was a man who brought the committee together, and I pray and hope that since he was the first chair for the housing committee and housing being a big agenda for this government, that we would have a few estates in this country that will be named Johana Ng’eno estates,” she stated.

Passaris hailed Ng’eno for giving his all to ensure that housing programmes rolled out by the government succeed.

“He really pushed every button to make sure that we as a committee, worked tirelessly to put the necessary laws in place, had public participation, and we oversaw the projects.

She recounted how they traversed the country to inspect ongoing projects and ensure that taxpayers got value for money.

“We went across the entire country with him, looking at projects and demanding the highest quality and the highest deliverables,” she added.
