Pastor James Ng’ang’a, the founder of Neno Evangelism, has stirred controversy by requesting each member of his congregation to donate Sh. 1000 for his holiday celebrations.

The video, which captured the charismatic preacher dressed in a white military-style outfit, has sparked discussions on social media.

Standing at the altar, Pastor Ng’ang’a addressed the crowd that had gathered around him, asking for monetary contributions to fund his festive season activities.

“Kwanza ebu mtu anipee Sh. 1000. Give me one thousand, nipee tu elfu moja… elfu moja tu nikakule Christmas mkimpatia nabii kikombe ya maji,” urged the pastor, as congregants moved forward with notes in their hands to fulfill his request.

Amidst the harmonious beats of the piano playing, the pastor excitedly collected the money, expressing his delight that people were contributing, allowing him to enjoy the holiday season.

“Eeehh wengine wananipea mbili… leta tu leta. Na mkinipea mnasonga nyuma,” remarked Pastor Ng’ang’a, addressing the congregation waving money in front of him.

After collecting the donations, Pastor Ng’ang’a reached into a bowl and began rewarding those who had generously given.

He cautioned those who hadn’t contributed to refrain from stretching their arms, assuring them that he had taken note of those who had provided financial support.

“Hii ni secret na msioneshane (this is a secret and do not show it to anyone,” Ng’ang’a said.

This is not the first time Pastor Ng’ang’a has been at the center of controversy.

In November, he was recorded engaging in an unusual practice of ‘selling pieces of paper’ to his congregants.

In the video, he tore pages from a notebook, claiming they represented money and received offerings from his followers.

He urges them that upon arrival at home, they should write dates on the papers.

“Write the date there. Forget about the stories you hear from people. I am selling papers,” he said.

Despite the controversies surrounding his methods, Pastor Ng’ang’a continues to have a devoted following.
