Poison, suicide note: Police probe death of 72-year-old woman in Kiambu

Police officers in Kiambu county have launched investigations into a case where a 72-year-old woman reportedly hung herself inside her home in Githurai, Mwihoko area.

According to a police report on Wednesday, Margret Gitahi was found dangling from the ceiling of her house by her brother-in-law John Njoroge at around 6:00am, while he was paying his regular morning visit.

Njoroge is then said to have reported the matter at Mwihoko police station, prompting officers from the station alongside a team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Githurai to visit the scene.
According to the police, a suicide note was recovered from her house , pointing out that she had tried to ingest poison, but ended u hanging herself.

The body has been moved to the Kenyatta University morgue awaiting autopsy.
