Police in Nairobi are currently investigating the murder of a 28-year-old bar attendant, Kezia Kigei, whose body was discovered dumped outside a shop in the Kosovo area of Mathare slums.
The incident occurred on the evening of Monday, July 8, and police have yet to establish the motive behind the killing. Local residents alerted authorities after finding the body, which had signs of injury around the neck, suggesting she may have been killed elsewhere and her body dumped at the scene.
According to Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei, Kigei had left for work at Mathare 4B on Sunday evening but did not return home as expected. Her family reported her missing before her body was found. The body has been taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigation.
In a separate incident in Nairobi’s Dandora area, police are searching for a gang that fatally stabbed 23-year-old Hillary Ouma during a robbery in the Mowlem area.
Ouma was attacked while walking with his girlfriend to a nearby shop. The assailants demanded money and mobile phones, leading to a brief confrontation where Ouma was stabbed multiple times in the ribs. He succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at a nearby clinic. The gang fled the scene before police arrived.
Detectives have been deployed to pursue the perpetrators, and Ouma’s body is currently at the Mama Lucy Kibaki mortuary awaiting autopsy.
Meanwhile, in Eldoret’s Moiben area, a bodaboda rider named Peter Kosgei was murdered and robbed of his motorcycle after being hired by two passengers to ferry them to Kapkorio on Sunday afternoon.

A bystander rendered aid and rushed Kosgei to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Police responded swiftly, recovering a blood-stained machete and a pair of bloodstained sandals believed to belong to the suspects at the scene.
Despite ongoing efforts, including promising leads, no arrests have been made, and Kosgei’s motorcycle remains missing.
Kosgei’s body has been transferred to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigation.
