Police in Kericho have initiated investigations into the death of a Form Two student at Moi Sitotwet Secondary School, who collapsed and died during an inter-class football competition. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening while the student was waiting for a penalty shootout between two classes.

According to a police report, the student was rushed to Kericho County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. Rhoda Kanyi, the Kericho East Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer, confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine whether the death was due to natural causes or if foul play was involved. “The investigation will unravel whether the student died of natural causes or whether there was foul play,” she stated.

The body of the deceased has been transferred to Kericho County Hospital mortuary, where an autopsy will be conducted to establish the exact cause of death.
